In a way he was right. Everybody knows, including Materazzi that Zidane is from Algerian descent and being called an arab terrorist is not something pleasant to hear.
But I think Zidane should have waited until the end of the game and then punched Materazzi's lights out.
That of course if Materazzi did not dive first ;-)))

First of all no one really knows what was said to Zidane, cuz no one heard it. Second of all Zidane is a lunatic and it is NOT THE FIRST TIME he does this. He did it in seria A and to a Saudi player as well. Therefore whatever was said, Zidane demmonstrated that he is missing a few screws and has issues. Glad the loony is retiring, now he needs to check into a mental hospital.
ITALIA CAMPIONI DEL MONDOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I cannot imagine what Zidane must have been called, but l'm sure it must have really been offensive. Materrzazi displayed a glaring lack of indiscretion and he should have known better. Though Zidane may have over-reacted, but at that point in the match tempers were frayed. I think FIFA should investigate with a view to ascertain what Materrzazi said, and if the remark was found to be provoking , he should be reprimanded.

Zidane can only tell what Materazzi called him but i think zidane being a proffesional should have controlled himself and reacted in a more mature manner but i think these rare incidents can't overshadow a great personality like zidane and people should forgive him and forget the matter. Infact it's human to defend oneself if you're assaulted. After all this, I think his fans would continue to like him.

They all call each other names, it's part of the strategy! Zidane is a professional, being paid millions of dollars! He was frustrated, tired, and couldn't score a goal against Italy (other than the fraudulent PK at the start of the game). He's always been hot-tempered and difficult to manage(that wasn't his first red card during this World Cup!). Professionals need to ignore any and all comments and go out there and do what they love and are being paid for!

As we all must know by now words can have much more power than actions. If the stupid Materzazi offended Zidane he suppose to expect a reaction on its level instead of it the coward hide himself behind the game's rules, a rat ! Now I really wonder if the Italian player would have said something like that out of the game to someone...if that is his regular way to behave...such a high level and classy are the Italians players. This stupid player made lots of people included me be ashamed of having Italian blood in my veins. Why it is soooo hard for Italians win a game clean?
Perhaps they don't have talent enough for that so hitting and offending others players became part of their game too. Such a looser way to win.
