Why do trousers fade on zipper area leaving a triangular shape. Both men's and ladies'?

Simple wear and tear. You handle that area (zipper) each time you put them on or take them off. The zipper part also protrudes more than the surrounding areas causing it to rub against other surfaces more. I don't think it actually fades faster than the rest of the fabric. That would not make sense.

It is just one of those things we must all live with.......
