It goes to laptop heaven, of course! Well, either that, or it goes into my closet. I may not have any laptops in there, but I've got about $10,000 (at the time they were bought) worth of other computer parts in there. Here's a picture of one of my 3dFX PCI video cards that I found the other day: http://img92.imageshack.us/img92/9702/myold3dfxcard1qm.jpg That big old thing had 12 MB of RAM on it! Man, it was fast (for it's day), back in 1997 or 1998.

I have owned 5 laptops...
I have a "rite of succession"... I connect up a USB DRIVE, and "suck" my data off of the previous one, then quick restore it to factory specs, and download updates, put on essential products, and sell it cheap or give it to the heir for free.
Other people wipe the hard drive of data and put it on eBay.

You can donate it to a school so a child with learning disabilities can use it and as an added benefit you get to take a tax deduction for fair market value
