For mp3's id recommend iRiver. i has lots of cool features and the price is just right. Think about what you want in an mp3 first, then go compare different brands and their features. That'd help you decide.

depends on what kind you need.
if you watch video, get creative zen vision:m 30GB. Ease of use with various formats. Good sound and quality and durable battery life too.
If you just wanna listen to mp3, can consider creative line. If you don't listen to Asian songs with Asian fonts, iRiver is a good choice besides Creative. Both comes with FM radio too.
If you just want the looks and don't need a FM radio or long batt life, get an iPod.
If you're not particular about anything, can visit Funan or Sim Lim, ask around the shops. They might have some local brands that work just fine and is more affordable too.

if you want to store lots of music then go for an ipod 2gb or 4 gb I used to have a song mp3 player and it only stored 300 songs so I bought a 2gb ipod and it stores loads I think they are nicer aswell and slim line my mp3 player was too bulky.
