We have already figured out alternative forms of fuel BUT the big oil companies will continue to lobby in order to keep the money coming in.
Not until the "people" get serious and reduce their usage will anything ever change.

Yes, the world does need gas and oil right now. Now only is it used for gasoline to power things, it's also used for other products such as plastics. Sure, some time in the future we may figure out an alternative to the byproducts but it will take a while.
The other forms of energy are too expensive right now but we have started research on them. I think right now ethanol is around 7-8 dollar per gallon equivalent, so if gas gets that high, more and more people will see ethanol as a good investment. Long term, we could use some other forms of energy, but that takes lots of research to get mass production going to make the new form cost effective.

there are better subtitutes for that
but they r yet to be used
there r some products which r made from waste agricultural products, some r derived from some plants
even nitrogen is also pollutionless but it is very dangerous
