sounds like the filter needs to be changed, throw the vac away and buy a good one

Your "lifetime" filters are blocked.
Remove them, wash them under the tap, and leave them to dry.
Don't put them back in the Dyson when wet, nor use the Dyson without them.
Once they're dry, put them back in, and it should be good as new.

*LAUGHS SO HARD HE FELL OFF THE CHAIR*
Get rid of it ASAP - I worked at Godfrey's which is Australias largest cleaning shop and we wouldnt sell them due to their unreliable nature, poor quality and crappy performance. However it sounds like your filters needs cleaning. Otherwise please direct yourself to the Kirby/Rainbow website and buy a great vacuum cleaner!
P.S. My doctor told me for my allergies specifically NOT to get a Dyson.
