For an animal to have wheels it would take alot of complex development and problems for the organism. And legs, wings and fins etc. are much simpler and effective for an organism, biology would have had to have invented roads first and thats not the way it works, in the sense of biology animals adapt to the environment. Now that there are more roads around then maybe wheels could be the next stage of evolution ;)

Can wheels climb up a tree?
Can wheels dig holes in the ground?
Can wheels land on branches?
Can wheels jump?
These are just some of the reasons why animals don't have wheels.

Several reasons. Evolution needs to work in little steps. There would be no advantage to a creature in developing a round stub that could turn into a wheel. Also, how would blood and nerves get to the outerparts of a spinning wheel from the "axle"?

Because a wheel has to rotate freely around an axis. That is, it's closely associated with the axis without actually being connected.
Without a connection there is no practical means of maintaining the appendage against wear or repairing damage.

To be fair animals don't really have a lot to do, do they?
Wheels generally are used to get to places quicker then walking. So how quickly does a dog need to get to a tree to take a piss? How quickly does a rabbit need to get for one side of the hutch to another?
Put wheels on a badger and it'll bite your arms off.
ahhhh... Olympic interspecies drag racing. I will begin the experiments.
Hamsters have wheels.

Animals do not need wheels as they have evolved into the kind of creature that they need to be to exist in the environment to which they have been adapted. We need wheels to aid us to travel more faster or easierover long terrain. However we do have catapillar tracks.

It would seem unlikely in evolution : the intermediates stages of developing wheels would have no advantage (other than in the future, which is not the concern of the creature) and so this sub-species would probably die out well before such "technology" would come to fruition.
