hi everyone, I am a beginner investor who works nights, so unfortunately I sleep during the open hours of the NYSE. I have access to the internet at night when I work, and would like to look into buying stock in a company that trades on an exchange that is open preferably approx. 2am-8am (eastern time) Can you guys suggest an exchange for me? thx

If you aren't day-trading, then time zones don't matter. Just get a good data provider, download that data after the markets closes, do your analysis and place your trade. All data should be updated by 7 pm, so you can easily download current data in your 2am-8am time frame. I would caution you about foreign exchanges as you'll have to jump through more hops to set one up, you'll have to go through foreign brokers, which will incur more costs. Foreign exchanges are more difficult to trade if you don't live in that country.

Right now, the emerging markets are really getting hammered. The BSE is down about 20% and the others are not fairing as well either.

Try Indian stock markets. National Stock exchange (NSE). You need to open an account with a broker who can give you a trading terminal for NSE.

Try the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It ought to suit your purposes; particularly if you are interested in Asian stocks; and I figure you should be.
