depends on personal taste. Personally, id take a backpack and axe and hike into montana. no crime rate, no taxes(unless they can find you) a very homogenous culture(only you), there is weather there, your own personalized health plan(be your own doctor), and no politicians screwing it up.

A place with a good climate year round, low crime rate, great schools from elementary to college, near the coast/beach, access to mountains and snow, great entertainment, live theatre, live jazz music, professional sports teams, great restaurants.
I can think of several that fit this: most cities within 30 minutes of downtown San Diego, coastal Orange County, a few coastal communities along the Los Angeles coast, Ventura, and Santa Barbara some parts of Hawaii. I'm sure there are some in the southern hemisphere also, that I'm not as familiar with those.
Australia and New Zealand come to mind.
The traffic part of Southern California could use some work and the government is always in need of repair, locally, at the State level and especially the Federal mess, but these are still better than most governments in the world and hopefully getting better as time moves on.

Politics and standards of living aside, I'd say a place like Cyprus or any of the southern Greek islands.
