your son is 19 and with a wife already? Your son is a selfish self absorbed spoiled young man. What is he going to do when the wife comes home with a newborn infant? He'll probably do the same thing because he again I repeat is selfish and self-absorbed.
The best thing his wife could do is Divorce your son!!!. Hit him with child support and be done with him.
As his mother you need to step up to the plate if her family hasn't and be a support system for your daughter-in-law!!! With her illness and hospital stay she will need all the love, support and understanding possible.
Your sorry son needs a "HELLO" wake up call to fatherhood reality. It's not about HIM and from now on will never be about HIM!!!

He's only 19 yrs old and sounds immature (how many 19 yr olds are ready for marriage and fatherhood?); plus I'm sure he's frightened, feeling trapped and has no idea what he's doing or which way to turn.
He needs a shoulder to lean on....just do your best. I am more concerned about his wife and child. They are going to need you more than he does.
Perhaps you can speak to your pastor or someone close to the family for help and advice.

Under all this stress he may have turned to "self medication"
The person who will know is his buddy.
The other, (I hate to say "unlikely"), reason for this behavior is he
is having a nervous breakdown.
Follow this advise:
Place your self between him and his wife.
Your a nurse. You have a couple of Police friends.
Have one or two of your cop friends "lean" hard on his buddy.
He will spill his guts about whats going on.
This will work.Protect his young wife.Start now.
Time to be at your strongest.
My best wishes are with you.

Sounds to me like he has sympathetic pregnancy, that is where a partner is going through pregnancy and then the male of the relationship goes through something similar, but because it's vommiting, it is probably more likely to be drugs. He's probably taking them to relieve stress or something.

at 19 he's not ready to deal with this, hence the craziness. he needs to grow up really fast and he just want to be a kid again because it's hard. sit him down and have a talk, don't preach or lecture but ask him and listen to what he has to say. maybe he need to talk to a counselor.

Oh wow this is too funny.....
When I was 19 I'd get mad if someone ate my pudding.
Your 19 year old is behaving like a 19 year old.
Too bad you didn't teach him to keep it in his pants.

Why are you even asking us this? You're a nurse, go to a doctor with him. Assuming you can handcuff him first.

could be just lashing out because of fear - or he's having a mental breakdown
I suppose you should ask him, or reger him to this question and confront him
