Basically, he said and is still saying that he favors personal responsibility, but two years later, people are still mad at him because of it. Wasn't he just telling the truth?

I honestly want to know why this makes some people so mad.

THANK YOU for putting this out there! YES, Bill Cosby is right!

Although slavery ended years ago, a lot of us still have that slave mentality. Its time to get over the past and think about our futures.

Our schools are falling apart; our children are killing each other; their heroes are PIMPS and DRUG DEALERS; our neighborhoods are deteriorating and we are blaming everybody else.

It is past time for personal responsibility!! We can't keep blaming others for our situation.

YES racism still exists, but we can't use that as a crutch! We need to VOTE, people died to give us that right! VOTING IS POWER!!!! We need to use that power.

If more of us voted, and HELD OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE, things would change in our communities.

If we VOTED and DEMANDED our mayors, city and county officials got CREATIVE and came up with ways to infiltrate these gangs the way they infiltrated the mafia to shut them down THINGS WOULD CHANGE. IF WE VOTED and held our elected officials accountable, our neighborhoods WOULD NOT be falling apart. IF WE VOTED and held our elected officials accountable, our SCHOOLS would improve. IF WE VOTED and held our elected officials accountable there wouldn't be LIQUOR STORES on EVERY CORNER in our neighborhoods.

WE are contributing to our own downfall, but we REFUSE TO SEE IT.

We get upset when we drive through a nice neighborhood that is predominately white and feel its that way JUST BECAUSE the people who live there are white. THAT'S NOT TRUE!! Their neighborhoods look that way because they EXPECT THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS KEEP THEM UP!! And their ELECTED OFFICIALS know that if they don't, their constituents will not VOTE for them and put someone else in office who will!!! VOTING IS POWER and we DON'T USE IT. They get on the phone and call their mayor when they don't like something and the mayor makes it right. WE DON'T.

When we do VOTE, we should be more selective and not VOTE for someone just because they show up at our church!! Then after they get our VOTE, we don't hear from them again until the next election. We should EXPECT MORE than that!

Will there ever be Black billionaires who didn't get there through sports or entertaining? Will there more Black fortune 500 companies? Will we ever start EXPECTING MORE from our children? Where are we going? Nowhere if we don't get over the past and get on with our futures.

I said ALL OF THAT to say....YES!!!! Bill Cosby is RIGHT!!!

I take it that this is about how Bill Cosby acknowledged that the poverty of blacks is largely self-induced. I heard that there was another such person; I think his name was Larry Elder. There was yet another such black person that tried to give a speech a Brown University, but was shouted down by the crowd of college students with inferior character traits.

One of the traits that typically characterizes the african race is the behavior of blaming everyone else for one's problems. I therefore conclude that Bill Cosby is of a relatively rare african subrace, a subrace which should be excluded from the usual criticism of africans. I'd need to get more samples of such people though, to identify exactly WHAT subrace it is. In any case, Bill Cosby does not look like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. We should identify which african subraces are the most responsible, and which are the ones that typically play the blame game.

There is a segment of our society that holds dear the idea that their problems are somebody elses fault. Now, to a great extent, past acts DID cause their lives to be affected, often badly. These past acts of evil men have become the excuse for every ill that are currently experienced by these people. If anyone challenges the idea that they are NOT responsible, then suddenly the excuse for all manner of poor behavior is gone, and they are left with the glaring truth that they alone are responsible, and the truth hurts. I applaud Dr. Cosby for just stating the truth. If some folks can't handle it, then that is further indictment of their failure to take responsibility for their own decisions and actions.

This could be applied to our nation as a whole, Black, White, Asian, Hispanic....I work in a field where I see people of all races who continually make horrible mistakes and sadly, those who suffer are the innoccent children who were brought into the mess created by their mothers and usually absent(whether truthfully absent, or being "absent" helps get benefits!) fathers.

As a christian, I know that I have made some mistakes in my life-ranging from small to a few major whammies and there is none of us perfect! However, I have learned from my mistakes and do not continually repeat them. I always push to move forward and not back. Even as a Christian, my faith tells me I have God's forgiveness and mercy for my mistakes/sins-but nowhere does scripture tell me that I can continue repeating them. We are all accountable for our actions/inactions and we must endure the consequence-this is how we learn.

I think Mr. Cosby is a wise man. The truth hurts sometimes-most of the time actually! If we can get past the knee jerk reactions we have to this truth, then we can all learn from it and use it in a positive way to make our lives, families, communities and our country greater!

I think he's part right. I don't think that most of the world is the Jerry Springer show.

It makes people so made because it's an indictment of Christianity, parenting, today's morals, and how people refuse to take accountability. There's little to be proud of anymore.

I think that also many African Americans don't like to be criticized by a member of their own ethnicity, they think he's selling out to the "white" ideology. And though it may be true for some, it's hard to swallow.

But can you imagine if people would have listened with an open mind and considered the possibilities? I bet you America would stop their backslide and rally to be a top nation again.

He was so right. I met two types of people - those who put life in their own hands and those who want to blame and make everyone responsible but themselves.

I love the woman who has 3 kids before she is 18 talking about how tough and unfair life is.

Or the guy who's been in and out of prison for drugs and stupidity talking about why he can't get a job.

He's right! I'm so tired of people blaming others for their problems. Stand up already and accept that your choices decide your future! I'm just glad to see a black man telling it how it is. Cause if I said anything like that (as a white woman), I'd get yelled at. Irregardless of color, its sad to see generations lost like that. Kids that will live their entire lives in that kind of sad exsistance.

A lot of people don't like the idea that they have to take personal responsibility for their lives.

It involves thought and effort, and that's just too much to ask of some folks, in their view.

Basically, one of the richest men in the world said that he lived in a racist country. 12% of our population couldn't have made him as wealthy as he was. I guess what trying to get across to you is that Cosby was a typical whining black hypocrite.
