I speak three languages and most of my friends are at least bilingual. I think in all three languages.

In which language I think depends on which language I use more at that period. For example currently I am leaving and working abroad and I use English all day long. I tend to think in English. Some years ago I was living in the UK and one of my best friends was German. After a while I was thinking in German when I was thinking something about him and in English for most of the other things.

In my country I think in my language unless it is something that has to do with English or German.

There is only one think that I can not think in any other language except my native one. I can not think numbers or make simple additions unless I think in my language.

I think a lot of it would depend on what age the person began learning and extensively using the second language.

If it was a child learning a new language and then moving to that country, then I'd say yes, the child would be thinking in his second language because that was the language he learned in the prime of his learning stage --childhood.

If it was a grown French man, learning for the first time, English, then moving to the United States, then I'd say his thoughts would remain in French because that is what he's familiar with and that's what he's grown up on.

U think in your master language. That is the language u learnt first. People who speak 2 languages sometimes find that they translate the other to the master language.
