As a product of the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic, I know you're wrong! Sorry for the disagreement, but McDonald's won't solve this one! :) You shouldn't say that Communism is a solution just based on a fascinating history or the political theories because I agree that they sound good. The Bolsheviks tried to start a Communist entity, but all that the Bolsheviks managed to install was a line of totalitarian rulers; it was not true Communism. I am certain you would not be so supportive of Communism if you visited nearly any part of the former CCCP/USSR even today...and you've been to Krasnodar...really you should have witnessed this all for yourself! These problems are even more evident in the big cities like Moskva or Sankt Petersburg. The grim social ills and decay that the Bolsheviks started in the name of Communism are still obvious. It will take many years to fix that. I am proud of my country and it's history, but I hope it keeps history where it belongs and serves as an example to countries contemplating similar leadership styles. Continual brutality and discrimination cannot last, and when it falls, the country falls into an even sadder state because the citizens do not know what to do without being told. That's partially why my native country is in such a poor state at the moment, but each year we get further from Communism, is an improvement; don't mistake this though: I know the Russian Federation and the former states of the CCCP/USSR have major political, corruption, economic, etc. issues, but I love my country still...it just needs some fixin' up.

In conclusion, people have tried to establish Communist entities in the past, but the reality is that while Communist and Socialist theory sound great, they morph into authoritarian or totalitarian leadership. That is the exact opposite of Communism. Communism is an impossibility anywhere; it cannot last. People need leaders, and Communism cannot provide that or the proper government infrastructure.

Even if you totally disagree with all that I have said, I hope that you can understand why my opinions about Communism and socialism are what they are, and I understand why yours are what they are about Communism: we have different backgrounds, and only one of us has been doubtlessly and directly affected by Communism.

Communism is not a good system cause in communism, the end product is to achieve total equality. no government, whatsoever. Everyone is their own boss and that kindda thing. No country which practiced Communism has ever succeeded. Instead, they have caused more chaos. And, with communism, everyone gets paid equally. Weather you are a workaholic who works 24 hours a day or a slacker who does no work at all. So it would be unfair for those who work hard. They would not probably work hard because of the slackers, which would damage the country's economy etc. etc. So Communism is not good. It does not work. Democracy works.

As another prior answer indicated, you are confusing economics and politics, but not wholly, because humans are political animals anyway.

However, let's get one thing straight: the Communist Party in USSR never instituted communism in that federation -- not as Karl Marx and Freidrich Engels advocated. Since inception in 1917 and until self-destruction in 1989, the USSR was operated and governed by an elite that used state capitalism as the economic philosophy. They called it Democratic Socialism but it was simply State Capitalism.

If you don't believe that, read Karl Marx's epic book, Capital, to find out how capitalism destroys equality and denies freedom at the same time. Then read his Philosophical Manuscripts of 1848 to find out how he envisaged a truly communist economy.

Communism has never existed in the Marxian sense anywhere in this world, and probably never will -- we humans are just not smart enough, collectively, to figure out how to implement it.

Like a lot of 'isms', Communism is an Ideal and ideals are rarely practical. Capitalism, relying upon greed and individualism, is of course, as far from an Ideal as you can imagine: in its greediest form, it's every man and woman for themselves. So that's why we have mixed economies -- a hefty dose of so-called freedom to get rich if you can, underpinned by state management of the economy -- but also to make sure that the big end of town always get richer.

And, realistically, poverty is here to stay -- because without it, being rich makes no sense.

Look at why the Vietnam War started - everyone was afraid of communism. Asian countries were turning to communism and everyone thought there'd be a domino effect.

Communism sounds good on paper but in a world this messed up, it would never work out.

absolute power absolutely corrupts. if the government knows how then sure but the thing is the government can never be perfect. so instead of having a small group of ppl that might screw up for everyone and go to wars that the ppl can't stop, why don't we have a representative democracy where every gets a say in it and ppl have to deal with the desicions they made as voters? once the power is divided, there will be corruption but more ppl who don't corrupt thus makin it a better government=) if u ruled communism, u can make everything better but the thing is U DON'T. others do

Communism is an economic system. It is NOT, as some people think, a political system (which is often confused with dictatorship).

Most families are communist systems. Many kibbutzim in Israel are/were communistic.

Communism is frequently not welcomed because it is confused with the politics which is usually used to enforce it. I doubt there has ever been a supposedly communist society (on a national level) which was really communist (maybe Cuba); they have been merely dictatorships under the veil of communism.

Accepting communism means accepting a garbage man earning the same income as a doctor- To hell with that! I went to school and want to get paid for it, let the lazy bum who sat on the couch make way less than me. Communism rewards laziness and punishes hard work.

What in the hell does accepting communism have to do with eliminating poverty? So now we have an elite bunch of rich little commy czars? THAT would help? Try thinking before asking.

Generally yes,
Communism is not welcome because it means community and every one get an even share.
Humans are normally greedy and want a bigger share than most and communism treatens this.
Thats why we have inevitable environmental disaster and poverty.
People won't even buy a smaller car to save the world!
But don't get depressed:) This world was never ment to last

Because it emphasises the equality of power and wealth, but people mind are egoistic hence it has failed to perform, capitalism won the battle. But, at present global communism has been practised by United States through UN charters by the concepts of democracy, liberty, trade agreements, kyoto protocol, global defence etc.
