I am completely a Zidane fan. I simply want to know what made the hero in my heart act so unreasonably and unadvisably...I think that must be something really mean...SO I am eager to know the answer. Could anyone please tell me?

Only two persons in the world know - Zidane and Materazzi.

Russian news: David Trezeguet was standing near by while it happened and shared what he heard with journalists:

Zidane to Materazzi - "you played with you hand, boy, used your hands2
M - "you're mistaken (it only seemed that way to you)"
Z - "That's the only way you can stop me. Just wait, we'll bit you in penalty and then you can find something better to do with your hands."

M - "keep dreaming! In an hour your mother will (Rude word) me, the champion!"

Then Zidane hit him.

Yes, Materazzi and Zidane.

Zidane has said that he will talk about it in a few days.

I visited BBC and fox news and they all claim a hired lip-reader who understands Italian had this conclusion:
M------"...You are a son of a terrorist whore."
with that Zizou turned to face him and Materaazi went on to say
"You f*** off for good measure." zizou couldn't take that and his only option was a furious head-butt

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

I learned this in pre-school.
