If egos get too big from several countries there could be irrational reactions. Right now North Korea is similar to a lonely high school kid (with a bunch of weapons in his room) and he feels like all the countries (like the US) are being bullies. North Korea wants attention and respect. If he doesn't get it he may go in guns blazing (ie Missiles Launching) to teach the bullies a lesson

nuclear war. more and more countries will fund their nuclear programms, saying it's for self defence but that could lead to war with other countries too. the americans will have an excuse to attack north korea and start another war. the nuclear activity also affects the nature, it might create other tsunamis, illnesses like cancer will spread more (think cernobil)...
basically, a lot of bad stuff.
