an electric model works great for around the home. its easy to store and requires no maintnace on an engine. be sure to keep your preassure washer in a warm place in the winter or you can damage the pump. the big difference in preassure washers is how fast they will clean. a 1900 psi will clean slower then a 3500 psi. but your chance of doing damage is a lot less

They vary in price etc so you could check this out through Which magazine. They may have back issues in your library . You need to let the unit cool down at intervals to prolong its life. Do the jobs in stages it's kinder on your back etc too.

You have plenty to chose from. 2200 PSI will do the job.
Troy-Bilt from Lowes.
Craftsmen from Sears.
Briggs and Stratton from TSC.
All of these will outperform Karchers.

my husband bought one from habourfreight.com. it is one third the price of home depot (even with shipping). it 's not high end, but good enough for residential use. it's made in China ( tell me what is not?)
