If his feelings were mutual, it's not lost forever unless he's dead. I met my friend when I was 11, an today, 30 years later we are still a part of one another lives. While it is not exactly what I'd dreamed of, we are not a couple and my never be; however, we keep the lines of communication open and always have. That's better than nothing. Ours is/was a very complicated relationship, but we are surviving it everyday.

Nothing beats a failure, but a try. So do you know how to get in touch with him/his family? You have nothing to lose. If he doesn't wan to be bothered you close that chapter of your life and move on, but at least you will know!

I don't know whether it's possible for somone to understand 'love' when they are 12 years old. You aren't even a teenager, you're just a child yourself. You have a lot of time to fnd love, dear. :)
