I once took my cat to the vet in a cage which hid him from view. He made horrible noises, so I explained to the receptionist that I needed to get my badger fixed. She was neither stunned nor amazed, and simply wrote the note in her little book.
I'd like to try the same thing on a Wal-Mart clerk. "I need to return this badger. It's broken."
