There are no goldfish in the wild. They were all bred from a rather dull fish, the crucian carp. They do live in rivers in china i think

Modern goldfish have no natural habitat, just like modern dogs. They've been bred in captivity for so long that they don't fit into any ecosystem in the world.

Any where along the line of tropical area. The one you're thinking about is what they called Koi fish. It's nothing more than a colorful or fanciful carp.

different fish live in different waters naturally, carp and such in deep murky waters, salmon in clear fast running water, i could go on for ever but all fish can adapt to new habitats eg cold water fish clear or murky fast or slow water but as long as the temp is kept between 06- 10 degrees and tropical fish like clear or murky waters fast or slow as long as the temp is kept between 15- 21 degrees and marine fish the same as long as the water is salty.
