I believe the two answerers above are both correct. Look for a certified agency and apply from there. I am now working in China and it sure feels good knowing I am working using a valid working visa as compared as to some others who only work using tourist visas. As in all things, it is best to work legally.
Good luck. :)

I'm already 2yrs working in Dubai. If you'll go thru agency, your salary will be less since most jobs available will be for salesladies and waitress/waiters only but sure thing is that you already got the job, their salary ranges from 700 to 1000 AED (15,000Pesos) plus food, transport and house rent. If you're coming here by visit visa, you can be able to choose the job you want and negotiate with your salary (esp. if you are an engineer, architect, accountant). But, the thing here is that nowadays, it's very difficult to secure a job since a lot of people are on visit visas, so the competition in the labor market is very high. I have a flatmate who is now 7months old here in Dubai but has to go back to Phils. because she didn't get any job at all.
There is a new labor law in Dubai that expats are no longer allowed to work as secretaries, PRO and HR managers because of "Emaratization", meaning only UAE locals will work for these jobs.

Apply for work in an agency so that you cannot be deported to the Philippines upon arrival thereat. Look for a reliable agency that already sent workers to UAE and see to it that it will not close after paying your bills. Dubai is a beautiful city just like Hongkong because it is an open city. The Islamic rules are not as rigid unlike in Saudi Arabia or Iraq. Good luck.

I think the less expensive option would be to come to Dubai on a visit visa, and look for openings here.
Life in Dubai is definitely not easy. The rents are sky high, cost of living prohibitive, and the traffic nearly as bad as Makati. However, if you get a good job offer, you may be better off in Dubai than in Phillipines.

That's right. It's not worth going abroad if you don't have a sure thing to do. Of course, if you're still young, you'll lose nothing in going there on a tourist visa and looking for a job there except for your time, and probably a lot of sweat and tears. pero if you're a segurista, you'll first look for a job in Dubai while still here in the Philippines through an agency. But if you're old already, don't bet your and your children's future by taking a big risk in going there on a tourist visa. You owe it to yourself to be more careful this time.
