Men need friendship and trust from each other, just like women need from other women. Men need to be able to have other men in their lives because that feeling of familiarity and common ground is the basis of all relationships, whether it be between a man and his son, a co-worker and his peer or just a stranger at the supermarket. Trust needs to exist between two men in order for them to live healthy lives.
It's true that opposites attract, but you cannot build a strong man without letting him have a strong man in his life first. It could be a hero, a friend or a family member. There will never be a time when a man will not value the presence of another man in his life.

men need companionship with someone who shares their interests, fishing, sailing, boating, racing etc.
I supose in cave man times we needed other men to hunt down our food a common dnominator something of interest to share with each other, something that brought us together as one.
in portsmouth UK where I come from the men hug when they meet and relationships seem to be much closer in the city.
in a rural area where I am now men are much less likely to form their own opinions they seem to be under the thumb and they let the women rule their lives.
