No, you need to do hard work to get ahead in any field. Even in the fast food restaurant field, they fire those that don't work hard. If they are strapped for employees then they may keep them on, but they will never promote them.
To get a good job you need to graduate High School and College, or a Technical School (like one from a community college). Even the Army has stopped taking people without at least a GED, and if you think Basic Training isn't hard work you are foolish.
The entire business world is about competition. Our economy is based on capitalism, which is all about competition. Simply put, the harder you work, the better you do, then the higher chance you have of getting ahead.
It may sound like just a line to you, but it's the cold hard truth. If you are just a mediocre worker then you will get a mediocre job. To get ahead in life, or anything else you must work hard for it.

Hard work seems to be a dying art...in my opinion.
The truth is that the harder you work, the greater the reward/remuneration (payment). The business community appreciate hard work and value it, but they do not brainwash people to gain it, otherwise productions levels would greatly outstrip demand in every consumer item and a glut of products would lower the price at the till and the company's profit margin would be affected.

I run my own company.
When I stress my staff hardwork, all I want is to get all the work done.
I dont think it has anything to do with brainwashing. At the end of the day, evryone of them will be very good at what they do, but this is not necessarily the only thing they are good at. Ppl have multiple talents or skills, so NOPE, I don't look at it as "brainwash"

I don't think so. I think that it is more of a personal ethic. Sort of like comparing it to motivation. Some people are motivated and just naturally move, while others don't. Consider both sides of the situation: if you were a business owner, what kind of work would you expect from the people you are paying?

I don't think so. Hard work lands you promotions, raises, and a successful business. Not that long ago, many peoples main job was to tend the farm. If they didn't work hard, they wouldn't have enough food to last them through the winter months.

depends on what industry, definite not brainwash if u are in a technical industry. Also if u are earning more money then it's not. Certain places are, however.
what is your job, if u dont mind me asking.

Hard work for someone else or company. YES
Hard work for yourself, and your own goals. NO.
And if you find something you really like to do, weather working for a company or yourself, it's not work at all.
