Got some lovely thick big towels for our wedding - we've washed them twice but they just don't seem to absorb the water well. Anyone got any suggestions??

Use them and wash them. Some take a while before they start absorbing well.

never use fabric softener on towels it is like putting rain-x on your windshield. It seals the pores. I use white vinegar instead, (in my softener dispenser). It will cut any left over soap residue and will not leave any smell after they are dry.

wash them with detergent only (no liquid fabric softener) after a few washes, they'll be fine.
