As long as you have a modem you can fax with a PC. The modem must be fax enabled which most are these days. The necessary software usually comes with the modem card. Windows includes some software for this also. Unless you are just faxing documents you are creating on the PC, you need a means of getting the document into the PC. This would most likely be a scanner or for pictures a camera. Some printers have scanners built into them. It depends on what you want to fax. If you want to fax documents you are creating on the computer you don't need to scan them. You just send them as is.

You can fax from your PC using an Internet fax service. You get your own fax number and you can send/receive faxes using your email. No fax machine or extra phone line needed. Fax modems or fax software can be too much trouble. All you need to setup an Internet fax account is an email address. It's really easy to use: http://www.myfax.com

Windows XP includes a fax program. It is NOT installed by default. Put the XP CD in your CD drive, go to the control panel, click the Add and Remove Programs icon, and select Add Windows Components from the bar on the left. The Fax program is under Communications. Once added, you simply attach a phoneline to your PCs modem (90% of PCs have those build in) and fax away.

If you would like to pay, something like Efax is a nice choice. Otherwise, at least you need a landline for dailing out and a modem in your computer. Win XP has his own fax service for free.

Check yr print function, it may have a "fax" option.
It may be there already, in the software. If not check
"Freeware" and "Shareware" sites, like
