Rumour is that Materazzi called Zidane a terrorist (and added some more spicy language about Arabs and his sister) and then Zidane had hit him. But is not it a proof that he actually IS terrorist deep inside. I mean I am sure if I will say to any civilised person that his sister is a whore and he is terrorist he will just walk away... Or at least will answer to words by words. What Zidan did is exactly the same what all the Islamist, terrorist or other groups do when they condemn people to death or blow up someone for "insulting Islam". When Theo van Gogh was murdered in Holland for his speech it provoked t outrage among everyone about how intolerant some migrants from North Africa are, even though Theo van Gogh also used offensive language by calling all Moroccans "goatf**kers" in the TV... or take the Danish cartoon issue when Islamic terrorists threatened to kill artists for supply making fun about prophet Muhammad. Did not Zidane set a same type of example?

The content above was deleted by some mistake of yahoo team who had mistakenly considered it “offensive content”. Fortunately I have text saved in my database and now posting it again:
There is nothing offensive in my post, apart from a parts where imade reference on other peoples actions (likë Theo van Gogh calling Moroccan immigrants "goatf**ers" on TV and being murdered for it, the media reports about Materazzi making a joke about Zidane begin "terrorist" prior toZidanes headbutt etc.

Take it that way: should I head butt (or say hack computers) of people who are calling me racist?
I guess not.
So why should we justify the violent actions of French ex captain?
Now Zidane did his disgraceful act in front of cameras with whole world watching. imagine what would he do if he would meet Matterazi in private having knife in his hand.
I don't say ZiIdane is a terrorist right now. But given how violently he reacts on things he dislikes he might actually become one if his life will take a real rough turn.

Exactly my point! Italians have been outraged when German paper called their nation lazy. But they had not responded to this unfair offence with headbutting the journalists, setting the redacton infire or oter type of violence. They responded to words by words.
See my point?

At this continent (Europe) people have right to choose whatever prophet to worship but should also allow others a right to worship someone else. People enjoy the right to speak out their minds freely but also respect rights of others to say things freely. If something goes wrong then people should use justice system (also in football) and not take justice in their own hands.
If Zidane or anyone else disregards their skin colour, religion, or race can not understand it may be they should defend a sport pride of some other country which will be more appropriate to their vision of life?
Zidane showed his true colours when he had through the armband with French national colours away as a piece of garbage after the sending off. But I am not French so it is not my business...

You know what I turn into politics? That a six feet tall millionaire fella is head butting another guy for some verbal joke no one else have heard any way, knocking him down almost unconscious, and that all happens in front of crowd of people and TV cameras who broadcast it world wide.
And then big number of people are justifying and cheering on offender and blaming a victim even those he never touched a guy. Is not an illustration that something is wrong in a world...? And does not it remind some other incidents, n USA or Europe when obvious criminal managed to get away with violent behaviour just upon calling his own victim “racist”?

So now does that make you feel intelligent, superior, well informed and knowledgable? You are beyond words. So you have spoken personally with Materazzi have you and he has told you it was just a joke...how ironic that he can make a joke about something he claims not to know the meaning of. Who is he trying to fool.
So have you tested your theory that civilised people would walk away from such comments. Go find a couple of hundred test subjects and call them all the alleged things that were said and see how many will just walk away from you. Then get back to us. Oops you wouldn't be able to, you would be in hospital.
As for Zidane setting an example of his present and future terrorist possibilities should his life take a turn for the worse, you need to grow up. It was a proffessional foul and not one that people are condoning. They are simply making the point that there is more than meets the eye in this situation for him to crack like that, jeopardising his WC dream, his career and his team.
A joke you say, a joke. Is that how you will all justify this if the allegations prove to be correct. If the situation were reversed and Zidane had said something about Pessotto and his suicide attempt would it still be seen as a joke? No it would not and no it should not. You would all be howling for his skin also and saying "oh but Zidane provoked him by saying....... " . Zidane reacted badly but please don't paint Materazzi as a completely innocent victim. Is everyone on the other side of the fence not making excuses for his possible actions?
You talk about violence but racism and hatred incite violence, is the beginning of violence. So if the allegations and I say if they are proven correct he opened the door to what he got by being low enough to incite it in the first place. This Q has made me quite angry.
While we can banter and opine back and forth with each other over the issue, reasons and allegation, this Question goes too far. You are sounding like a racist as the above commentors claim.

Maybe you'd walk away from somebody insulting your family your religion or your race. I'm sure you wouldn't react to being called a terrorist because perhaps you're caucasion and have never had to deal with such a thing.
Trying to find commonality between terrorists and Zidane is pathetic and very ignorant on your part. You think terrorists are just muslims? That's a racist generalization. I'm sure the KKK would be considered a terrorist group and I know for a fact they aren't Muslims. Look up the word terrorist and try to convince people that Zidane's actions fit that description. It won't happen.

Just because Zidane is a muslim and did what he did does not make him a terrorist I know of many people that would probably do the same thing and they aren't followers of Islam. You do not have to be a muslim to be a terrorist but the media portrays it as if it is muslims that are doing all the harm when they aren't. People in any culture or religion in the end are all the same. I don't think Zidane should have done what he did on national televsion but he is no terrorist!!

there is a big line between terrorist and self defence.
what did zindane do to show that he was terrorist ?
nothing -
so when u are provoked and pushed so much against the wall , then u are made to act the way zidane did.
first make a defination of terrorist and then comment .
if every self defence and right for freedom is terrorism , then every country in this world came into being from terrorism.
and what an irony , that the italian playeer said that "i dont know what it means" referring to terrorist.
biring me one perosn in this world who wont know the meaning of terrorisrm -
english or non english .
he showed his guilt there-
btw zidane was also banned for 2 games in the 98 world cup , for elbowing saudian captain -
it is nothing he has done for the first time , but looking at his recent act --
how he dispersed his players when a penaltiy was given against them in the spain pre quarter match - and how he diffused his team mates on any decision that went against them , this act seemed out of context.
but still ...
he is not a terrorist :@

Oh yeah that's the way to do it! walk away from Materazzi, this is what you would do.
Well, what happened is not out of the ordinary, it happens always in any type of sport, if you are a sports fan and you watch games, this is not an "Alien" behaviour on either side.
so the best thing for me, as a Muslim and very much civilized person "deep inside", is to walk away from this argument.

i think we should shift the focus a little- who hurled the insult to begin with? was a great man with a good heart thinking of not offending another person? didn't he think that the slogan at this years wc was ' say no to racism?" obviously not!!!! i think that materrazzi should be disciplined for not thinking of using his words more carefully - he disrespected the platform given by fifa to respect other cultures & nationalities. so lets shift the focus not to the reaction but what caused this type of reaction!!! i think all fair minded people will not like their integrity or sister's for that matter to be blighted. lets be honest about this matter & punish the initiator not the reaction!!!

THAT IS HOW A PLAYER TERRORIZES OTHERS ON THE PITCH..MAYBE THAT IS WHY PEOPLE RESPECT HIM...NOT BECAUSE HE IS GOOD..BUT BECAUSE HE HAS NO PROBLEM FOULING OTHERS..HE HAD 3 YELLOW CARDS IN THIS TOURNEY ALREADY...
HE STOMPED ON A SAUDI'S LEG IN THE 1998 WORLD CUP GETTING A RED CARD THEN...CLASS(LESS) ACT..NICE EXAMPLE
HE HEADBUTTS A GUY FROM HAMBURG (NO S.HIT??? REALLY?) WHILE PLAYING FOR JUVENTUS...
