For the same reason non-rich people do ... because they are corrupt.
Don't think for one minute that being rich has anything to do with being corrupt. That is a human condition, and it favors no particular income level. In fact, if a rich person gets caught committing a crime, it's all over the news, but that same day, thousands of non-rich people are committing crimes, and you will never hear about them.
It sounds to me like you are an envious non-rich person, looking down your nose at people just because they have more than you. But keep this one thing in mind - there are probably millions of people around the world who don't have one tenth of what you have, and they probably feel the same way about you as you feel about 'rich' people.
So why is it that someone who works hard, works smart, saves money and invests wisely, or risks everything to become an entrepreneur, providing jobs to others in his community, and eventually becomes rich, is criticized by so many non-rich people just for having more then them? And why do these same non-rich people who criticize ‘rich’ folks buy lottery tickets, enter sweepstakes, go to casinos or other forms of gambling, join up with multi-level companies, etc? If just being a rich person is so evil, then why do they want to become one?
Here's a tip: The best definition I ever heard for wealth and poverty was stated by a man named Robert Allen. He said that wealth was producing large results from small efforts, and poverty was producing small results from large efforts.
So if you can produce large results for your community, or serve your community in a large way, then you will be rewarded with large amounts of money. That's right, the people will just give it to you, you won't have to be corrupt and take it through illicit means.
Likewise, if you produce small results, and serve others in only a very small way, or a way that is not valued much by your community, then regardless of how hard you work or how many long hours you put in, you will receive small amounts of money.
This is known as the law of compensation. For more info, go to www.noobjectionselling.com

They love power and power is corruptive. They lose sight of their morals and vaues and basic human qualities of right and wrong. I have often looked at them and thought 'What kind of a price will you have to pay for your actions? Karma wise that is.
I certainly hope it is something. People like George Bush who is reponsible for thousands of deaths seems to have a really good life. He has brothers and parents and children and a wife and 50% of Americans like him. He has money and he has power.
He does not have intellect but I don't think he realizes this so it does not hurt him in the concrete sense.
So, I keep watching. Surely karma has something in store for him and others like him.

Rich people recourse to corruption because they have money to give to government officials in exchange of business concessions or not to be prosecuted for the crimes they have committed.
