If you really want to be happy in your work, do something you would do for free.

This doesn't mean work for free; this means that if there's something you like doing so much, and you'd do it for nothing because you like it so much, that's how you know you'd be happy in your work/job.

Get yourself a copy of "What Color is Your Parachute?" and do the self-analysis necessary to target your ideal career. It involves doing some serious research into what is involved in various careers and positions, but in my opinion, the effort is worth it. I did this back in the mid-1980s, and as a result spent 16 years loving Mondays and looking forward to going to work every day as a legal secretary. Now, sadly, it is necessary for me to update my skills, and I am hard at work learning all about Microsoft Office Suite and related programs and having a great time with that.
