Because you didn't have darker middle ages, when the things that came up during the Renaissance were suppressed?
I think the Renaissance happened because, when the Church came to full power, a lot of things in Arts and Science were suppressed due to the powerful paradigm of the high clerics and their capability to enforce it. Then when things could not be kept on a low boil any longer (partially because of crusades and exchange of ideas with the Arabic world), Renaissance came along and, eventually, overthrew the status quo.
There was no such a suppression in India, so there was no need of overthrowing it, the overthrowing, in Europe, being called Renaissance.

The Renaissance was a European phenomenon. It was a period of rebirth following the Dark Ages. It was the first return to classical values since Rome fell.
