Thanks so far, just to keep you updated the staff are leaving one by one and if this continues the company would end up closing

Three years ago I was in the situation that you're in right now. It was a high-profile job in finance in a multinational company and there are 14 of us in the corporate finance team. I sensed that my boss was getting unrealistic with her expectations from everybody else in the team so I took the first good opportunity to leave. Almost everybody condemned me for leaving that job....then almost everyone else took my lead. Last year, that team was formally dissolved and the finance director (my boss) was kicked out. At that time, I trusted my gut feeling. I was no longer happy, what I'm doing does not challenge me and my efforts went unrecognized. Somebody answered in this forum about getting up in the morning and feeling less livelier than one should have. Take his/her advice.

Explain your frustration to the HR or one of the partners in the firm or your boss's boss (if it's private industry). I've had reputably bad boss too, but it was mainly because she didn't know how much people hated that. After HR and evaluation team spoke with her, she became very tolerable. During this process, though, search for different opportunities. Experienced accountants are hot items these days. Knowing something else is out there will not only give you confidence in going through this process but a leverage in talking with the higher ups. Because it costs money to recruit and hire someone to replace you, they'll work with you on this. The best thing is to also have others talk to the HR and the boss's boss about her too to back up your side.

If you're not satisfied with the result, you can always leave.

If you are unhappy with your current position you should leave. Unfortunately mean bosses makes it hard to go to work and be effective. Even though her father is her boss, you should not be afraid to talk to him about your concerns. I am sure he don't want to lose his best employees because his daughter needs an attitude adjustment. If you are currently making a salary that you enjoy, you will make it somewhere else or even more. Put your resume out there, what do you have to lose? I hope I was helpful.

If you like your workplace and co workers otherwise, you may want to speak to your supervisor's boss, or simply wait it out a bit more to see if they can get some people hired.
If the work environment is complete garbage, send resumes out while continuing working. There are always companies in need of accountants. Best of Luck!!! :)

Yes, definitely leave. A good boss is the key to happiness and success in most jobs.

the first right move seems to leave, because happiness in your job is also as important.

but it looks like your only problem is your boss. the best way is the right approach to your boss.

first, no matter how stupid your boss is, always VALIDATE her by giving her sincere compliments.

second, remember, if you want your boss to be good to you, be good to her first.

third, what you say will always leave a mark on somebody else's heart. tell your boss good things and she will soften. i guarantee you that.

God bless you!

I have to agree with everyone else. You should leave not now but right now! Having the skill and experience that you have is all you need to move on. Being that you're an accountant you have many options to consider before you leave your less than perfect situation. Be good to yourself or know one else will.

Start looking for another job!! You have the experience. Once you find one, put in your notice and hit the road. You will probably be much happier. Even if you have to take a pay cut, money does not buy happiness.
Lots of luck to you! : )

Sounds like right career, wrong job. Write out your resume, Cookie, and get out of working for a boss you can't respect.
