smash your dashboard. if that doesn't work, wrap duct tape around the back of your car..... three times around should do.

Hi Julie, to state the obvious answer would be either press the button or pull the lever to disengage the trunk release but im pretty sure thats not the answer you looking for.So ask the proper question you need to know and someone might be able to help you with it.
If you are not sure of where the release button is, then refer to user manual for your car alternatively ask the local machanics near your area. Trunk release is usually situated under or around where driver's seat is.

you want to open the trunk from inside the car? disengage is kid of misleading...is there a trunk release from inside the car to begin with like a button or lever somewhere?
is the key broke off in the trunk lid?

although i find it odd that you are engaged to an automatic trunk release, inside or outside, I would suggest that you let it down easy and tell it you would just like to be friends.

take side cuts and clip the cable but that is not the true answer hahaha
you can actuall unhook it at the trunk latch
