How do you know in your mind that they won't go for the other person when you are not around? A threesome might be used as a justification for cheating.
Also it usually brings the relationship down because the average person can't handle the possible impacts of a threesome when in a serious relationship. Someone ends up enjoying themselves tooo much. Someone ends up not enjoying themselves at all. Someone ends up feeling left out. And this could all be spread across equally in different variations with the three people in question.

Quite possibly. Jealousy is a natural human emotion, and relationships with two people are complicated enough, so why add a third person? If one longtime partner is more interested in doing this than the other, tread very very carefully! Remember not to push your partner to do something they aren't interested in, and likewise, don't give in to doing something that makes you uncomfortable for the sake of your partner--it will only hurt the relationship.

No. As long as you two are comfortable with the situation and your relationship then there should be no problem.

Yes
Why would they need more then you?
Are you, not enough for them?
Are they, not enough for you?
Ask yourself those questions.
It might be time to move on.
