Our family is currently looking at Fort Collins, CO and Lancaster County, PA for the reasons you listed. And low home prices depend on where you live now. And also what climate would you be looking at?
I grew up in the Lancaster area, and although my parents and me and my sister moved because we got sick of the snow, I look back now and realize how nice it was as a kid to not have to worry so much about crime and the schools were great.
