I think our troops will find Bin Laden and then it will all seem worthwhile. If we come up empty handed it will seem like a waste of time and effort. But the US has already capture or killed like 75% of the bad guys, al qaeida, or however its spelled, already. Good job! Thank your husband for all the ones they've gotten already. It is paying off.

This is one question I really don't know the answer to! This kind of deployment is particularly confusing because its not obvious who will benefit from the objective. If the west succeeds in installing a pro-west administration, will the people of the region really be better off? The regimes removed from Afghanistan and Iraq were heavily supported by the UK and US before the Kuwait indiscretion -and now the boys have to clean up the mess with very little public (or operational) support. The whole fiasco is corrupt, and I feel for the innocent who suffer - including the families of troops ordered into these regions. I would like to add that I admire the bravery of anyone prepared to serve in the forces, and I wish them all a safe return.

Thing is you need to look at what the winners would do...
Ie The Taleban were like a demented Inquisition who
Flooged you for not having a big enough Beard.
Punishment for playing chess was to be hung by your ankles for days wipped with cables till the walls ran red with your blood
Death by agony ie stoning for?
* Educating a female over 10
* Impersonating someone of the opposite sex even if you are a girl child trying to pretend to be a boy to get an education
* Walking in the street if female without a father, brother or husband.
* Sex outside marriage even kissing or holding hands
* Giving medical attention or gazing on naked female flesh (yes that means if you are a doctor examining a hurt or terrible ill female). The girl got killed two for adultery
Being Gay death buy having a wall pushed onto you and run over by a bulldozer. (no thats not a joke)
YES THATS THE DEATH PENALTY BY AGONY
The moron squad there consider women precious jewllery no non husband is to see.
Girls waring nail varnish had their nails pulled out with pliers.
Any female not wearing a burka all over cloak with only pin holes to see got the death penalty or flogging or both
Hacking off limbs popular and decorated the trees
No female allowed to work even if family starving and has 3 phds.
All images or people or animals destryed so thats all works of art.
You really don't want to get caught with music CDs if luck flogged bloody.
Flying kites prob result in Flogging or wears my hand?
And much more...
If you think thats crazy look it up...
This is why some democarcy campainers who the taliban were after hyjacked a plane to try and escape with their family and freiends with no intention or really harming anyone.
The Standstead hyjack...can you blaim them?

Sweetie... I know where you are coming from & I can sympathise with you. I also agree that MP's should go get a taste of what it is like, in fact I often ask myself, why are Tony Blairs 2 grown up sons not in the Forces? They are the same age as most of our boys out there. It is a true disgrace especially seeing as the Princes are in!
BUT in the meantime, someone, has to do something about this Heroin situation. By continuing to grow Opium Poppies those people are actually killing us, wrecking lives and spreading disease by proxy. We need to get out there and end the Opium trafficking.
I just hope we complete the job quickly and don't end up with it dragging out like Iraq. I do worry that actually Afghanistan is more treacherous and dangerous terrain than Iraq. The Russians couldn't overcome them. Hopefully things were learnt about the Afghani's by the Russians and we can build on that & succeed.

I think you can't help people who don't want your help. I would like to see all our troops out of Afghanistan NOW. I sympathise so much for you - you must be out of your mind with worry. No-one has ever won a conflict in that area - the terrain is too hard and the people are too crazed. Bring them home now before more families suffer heartache.

i think the afghanistan situation is terrible and can be resolved through negotiations. why have innocent troops killed, when the most powerful tool is speech. you are quite right, the mps should go out there and risk their lives, like the tropops do, it all right for them to order more troopps tomgo out, its not fair for the fmilies of the troops. i hope i answered your question successfuly.

The Soviets with all their might failed to beat the Taleban what makes Blair think our forces can do any better.
I think we're gonna end up sending more troups and that there will be lots more casualties.
All the best to you husband.

Islamic fundamentalism, terrorism, poverty, illiteracy, things are really bad, but only as far the locals are concerned. As a marine all these except terrorism does not apply to your man.
