A lot of the negatives stated above are pure speculation backed up with no real source. The one in particular about tuition rising is a problem at the state level, and does not define the cause. That's the kind of thinking in this country that feeds the trolls. When you can get up on a podium and debunk the other political opponent without backing it up, then you've just figured out what it means to be a far-left lib.
Fortunately, there are plenty of people around that don't think that way in both parties. You can take any slice of history and find positives and negatives. Personally, I think the positives outweight the negatives, and have for the past 2 decades. We have witnessed the fall of communism, a booming economy (the greatest GDP of any other country), and a tech boom that has changed the lives of millions of Americans.
With increased technological advancements in medicine, transportation, and computing, our lives are constantly becoming safer around us at the fastest rate ever. There are many problems plaguing the world as well, but I don't feel that they can possibly outweigh the growth and progression we have seen.
I consider myself Republican, but like most mainstream folk out there, I find myself crossing party lines on some issues.

We are suffering from the worst reputation we have ever had in history, as many other countries are seeing us as bullies. We are no longer the leader in industry in the free world, or otherwise. We are in an unjustified war that has become a quagmire, and has made terrorism more widespread. We suffered catastrophic hurricanes that were not handled well by our government. Our educational system is in the toilet, as NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND has become No child left a dime. We are arguing among ourselves in regard to illegal immigrants, and other issues. We have a president who has resorted to spying on the American people and taking away our civil liberties in the name of being safer, when we aren't any safer at all. I think this is America's darkest days.
I am not politically affiliated with any party, as I vote independent, which contrary to popular belief, is NOT a party.

Our current situation is not bad but it's not great. The economy, despite what many will want to believe, is doing very well. Homeownership is up, unemployment remains stable, if a little high. Our position in the international community could be better, certainly. Germany is on our side (maybe that does mean it's the end times). Britain, for the most part, remains committed.
As the great Monty Python troupe put it..."Always look on the bright side of life!"

My political affiliation is my own business. I see the cup half full, not half empty. Life in America has never been better than it is right now. I have money, a nice house, and a nice family. Times are great. The economy is good. The sun is shining, and I am in good health.
I wouldn't consider living anywhere else.

things in america are bad. there are studys that show we're more isolated now than 20 years ago. In the state i live, for the past 5 years tuition fees have raised while starting pay for graduates decreased. we're involved in international events that we shouldnt be in. prices for everything are raising while funding is constantly cut for education and extra cirriculars. we as a country are obese. poor diets worse exercise routines. and from my personal experience, the youth are getting more and more disrespectful, and people are becomming less and less tolerant of each other.

Things are BAD. We just doubled our national debt for IRAQ. The middle class are making less than ever. Crime will continue going up as the poor get poorer.
Twenty years of this and the middle class will revolt; loot, pillage, burn the neighborhoods of the wealthy not because of greed because their children are starving and cold. So if you have any wealth make sure you have your gun handy so you can shoot a mother when she breaks into your house to feed her children.
