out of the above three it would be honesty.i would also like to add equally important characteristics of the ability to listen as well as talk,understanding,caring,the ability to share and equality.

Some people are to nice, and that leaves them open to being
taken advantage of. I don't feel nice all the time, and I don't want
to be nice ALL the time. That's not being real. Then take honesty
how many people are truly honest ? ALL the time. Not one.
So realistically, having empathy already has "nice" and "honest"
with it. Having "empathy" means caring about others feelings,
and wanting to help. Nice is already built in. It's hard to be a
constant lier, and be empathetic with others. Right ? So, I
figure being an honest person would also be built in with the
"empathy.

i don't consider humans to be very nice, honest or empathetic as a whole...quite the opposite. it is always a rare wondrous surprise to happen upon someone who is either one or all of those things just ONCE in your life.
but if i was to have to decide out of those three which one is more commonly displayed by the human race.......id have to say none. "niceness" is usually a game to appease a situation, empathy...is usually just for "show". and Honesty? oh plz...as a race we are far from honest creatures.
sad to say...but the most "defining" characteristic of humans..is SELF SERVING!

I would say LOVE.
Love is an emotion so to answer in the context of your question I would say to be empathic is the best human quality. Truth, honesty, kindness are all forms of love and therefore a form of Empathy.

Empathy. It is the only truly human feeling. My dog is never dishonest, and he is usually quite nice too. Empathy - having feelings for other humans is what being humane is - this is the essential trait to be human. This is the trait that Nazi's lack and right-wingers despise -caring about each other. Niceness. if you have that honesty isn't a concern. Even if they're dishonest, you know it's for a good reason.
Empathy is ok but not that important really. I don't want to have an empathetic person when i'm feeling bad, i want someone to cheer me up.

As a nurse I consider myself to be a nice, empathetic and honest person. Those are my best human characteristics!

Honesty; but there is a catch. I've been told sometimes I beat people over the head with it sometimes. But I will continue to be this way.
