My son is 10 years old and plays on a year round elite baseball team we spend over a thousand dollars a year for him to play. Not including if we travel with him. I think were crazy. How much is too much?

You may be crazy anyway, but thats not "overpriced" for travel ball!

You have to determine several things, first and formost, is this something that is good for your son, and does HE want to do this.

Travel ball is much more intense than rec as you probably have found. It requires a huge commitment from you as well as your son. Your son will not only excell in baseball skills, he will learn how to work as one part of a larger team trying to accomplish a goal. He will learn his actions are reflected in the outcome of all, and his faults can be "carried" at times by his comrades. He will learn how to accept setbacks (a loss, being benched etc.) and overcome them to move on to the next contest.

Sounds like some good lessons for a youngster to laern! Is it worth the time and effort (and cash) you have to put into it? Only you can answer that. Travel Ball can open up some good (and a few bad) possibilities for your son. Good Luck with it.

a thousand a year for him to play doesn't sound all that much. I am a 17 year old Varsity Baseball player at my high school..I've only been playing baseball for 8 years..most guys on my team have been playing since they wer 4 or 5 and have experience in travel ball and they are pretty descent. I wish I my parents would have put me on a travel team because it will make you better when you are older. If you believe that spending thousands of dollars is worth it, then go for it.

Hey its a good thing that he is getting a lot of different experience playing ball. A grand isn't bad at all, if its not keeping you from eating or keeping a roof over your head, keep it up as long as he enjoys it. Its when you start pushing when he doesn't want to do it, then a grand is too much. 5-10 grand is too much in a year, but then again, its all on how much your family income is.

if he is worth the money in your mind then that's good...but it is a little steep for what i would pay...10 year old's shouldn't be travelling around playing ball, too young... practise will make him better...spend your money on that instead.
