The Cold War was fought in the same way we're handling North Korea. Deterrence and containment will eventually cause the communist regime to fail. That's what happened to the U.S.S.R. as a result of our deterrence. North Korea is barely more than a freckle on the face of evil. The reason they haven't attacked in over 50 years has to do with the fact that their economy has held up through China and Russia's support, and the prospect of annihilation if they did attack first.
Now that the economy is starting to strain itself out, as is common with communism, they're starting to get desperate. To blame their situation and threats on Bush is ridiculous.

North Korea wants to be recognized as a Nuclear State. They want to spread communisim the way we want to spread democracy. What the North Koreans aren't showing is how much of their population is starving to death while the leadership is on the high horse and all food goes to the military. There is hope though, their population is rebelling. People are bribing military guards at the border of China and sneaking across cell phones, and anti government movies to the rest of the world. The truth will be told, and the regime will fall...eventually. Hopefully this can be done by their own people (especially since I am currently serving in the US military in South Korea!).

It seems to me, my young sounding friend, that there is a policy of Mr. Bush's that is to "bully" North Korea into his submission. The question really is; "why?" Why does Mr. Bush want to "bully" North Korea into his submissive will? Why is it such a big huge deal that North Korea not be allowed to obtain and develop weapons of this earths destruction? Mr. Bush should be working on the international community through the United Nations to develop international laws to make it illegal for all nations on the face of this earth to develop and acquire nuclear weapons! Not just North Korea and Iran! North Korea has had a very long bitter past with America because of the Korean war back in the 1950's. Apparently, Mr. Bush still seems to be holding on to the bitterness that this "worthless" needless politically motivated Korean war conflict of his generation created with him! I think Mr. Bush needs to learn the most valuable life lesson of; "forgive and forget." This is also the way that Mr. Bush deals with Iran. Guess what? There was also a bitter dispute between Iran and America going all the way back to the 1970's with the "hostage taking" crisis America endured at the hands of the Iranians in Tehran at the US embassy. Mr. Bush seems to want to harass his enemies from the past using the nuclear weapons ploy! This in place of a invasion such as Mr. Bush commited America to doing in the spring of 2003 against America's foe of the Gulf war in 1990 Iraq!
