Assuming a fairly active player and a good jog, I would say about
12 miles. 7.5 minute miles, 2 miles every 15 minutes...8 miles an hour, for 1.5 hours....a very active player maybe 15 miles.

No way they run that much. Have you ever watched a soccer match? They aren't constantly running. They run in spurts and rest when they are tired or during a lull. I would say they run five to eight miles per match.

midfielders do a lot of running..

i read somewhere, couldn't remember..
during the 2002 season..
while he's still a Red..
Beckham averaged 14-15 miles a game..

i believe wingers and midfielders probably cover the most ground..

on average i've heard about 14-17 for a pro. I definitely believe this having played outside mid for many seasons now.
