Ha Ha Ha, this works just like missing socks. Wormholes. Everybody knows that wormholes are rifts in time and space. What everybody doesn't know is that washing machines and desk drawers are particularly good at starting wormholes. The reason Dr. Seuss never finished his last book is because 1,000 pounds of socks came out of nowhere and crushed him. Somewhere in the space time continuum, somebody will be stabbed to death by all the little ballpoint pens that everybody loses. That's another theory on how the dinosaurs became extinct.

they are in the same place that the match to my other socks are in. darn pen and sock fairies, they have nothing better to do but steal our items. they also move my keys every day!

I have them in my pencil holder...which is ironic since it is made for pencils...but is holding pens.
