the interference does not cause any potentially hazardous issue, it's just rather annoying. but radio frequency interference is all that it is. the signals that communicate with your cell phone will disrupt the sound waves eminating from the speakers and other types of electronic equipment. ive found a work-a-round for this issue is to turn the speakers off or down while using the phone or to relocate temporarily away from your speakers.

This happens a lot. Cell phones have powerful transmitters in them and the signal they produce can interfere with sensitive (or poorly shielded) analog equipment. It shouldn't do any damage to any consumer electronics.
