(my cat is not sick or anything, she's really moody and i forgot to feed her one morning and she took it out on my comforter...*sad face*....what a little terror)

There are new pet odor, stain, urine treatments such as Urine Gone and "O"...Cats mark their territory using urine and scratches on wood, for example. I would call a dry cleaner and ask if a charcoal treatment is availabe for use on large items such as goose down mattresses and/or rugs. The charcoal will absorb and remove odor when used correctly...

Also, baking soda may be effective and less expensive to try...especially if the 'place' is small...(one time used). One could soak up as much urine with a soft cloth as possible then apply a paste of baking soda to the area...it should not be disturbed for awhile so that it can work. A small amount of water could allow the baking soda paste to be flushed into the 'down' and provide a more thorough treatment. It should not harm the mattress to treat it this way; and, it could prove to be effective in preventing a recurrence of the urination. Cats like litter boxes...you know that. It may be signaling that the smell is getting too 'stiff' for tolerance...if you know what I mean...

If the place is near your nose in bed, it could be reversed to the 'down side' at the other end of the bed...flip over sideways, then lengthwise...to get it out of your 'offense zone'...

Whatever you do don't put it in the washer!!! Washing it will ruin the down and make the comforter smell really really bad and ruin its loft (fluffiness). Take it to the dry cleaners. Tell them what happened and see if they can clean it. They use a special process to clean down. Hopefully they can solve this problem.

P.S.

Get a food bowl that has a timer on it. It maybe a little pricey for a food bowl but it will save another costly pee incident. My cat is moody too, but at least he just pees on the bath mat in the bathroom.

Take it to your local drycleaners. They have things to remove urine stains. Not sure if yours can be put in the dryer, read label and if not just ask them to wash it in the washer and lay out to dry. I have washed many down comforters and they do great its just some can not be put in the dryer. And drycleaning will not remove the pet odor.
