Back then, we used Spanish and some Filipino since the Spaniards didn't want the people to learn Spanish but eventually they learn, somehow (not sure).

Now, Tagalog or FIlipino for the national language because Philippines consist of many islands and we also have different language for the regions devided. There's also alot of English and some Chinese because there are a lot of Chinese-Filipino communities here.

Main language is Tagalog. Philippines has over 70 dialects but they communicate and understand each other in Tagalog or English.

it should be Pilipino, which makes use of Tagalog as its main source but incorporates other words belonging to the other major dialects of the country.

Tagalog is just one of the major dialects, widely used in the capital and neighboring provinces in Luzon.
