excess is never good, for example
Excess in vitamin A can lead to birth defects, headaches, vomiting, double vision, hair loss, bone abnormalities and liver damage.
Excess in vitamin B can lead to kidney stones or kidney damage, weak muscles and bones, excessive bleeding and other problems. Excessive amounts usually come from supplements, not food or overexposure to sunlight.
Excess of vitamin E May interfere with vitamin K action and enhance the effect of some anticoagulant drugs.
Excess of vitamin C: Vitamin C intake may cause diarrhea and gastrointestinal discomfort. Use of supplements can also interfere with tests for blood sugar level.
Excess amounts of vitamin B6 can cause nerve damage.
No symptoms have been observed from excessive intake of vitamin K.
Excessive intake of thiamin (vitamin B1) is expelled in the urine.
No problems have been linked to excessive riboflavin (vitamin B2) intake.
No problems are associated with excessive intake of vitamin B12.
however, you should, ask your doctor before taking the combination of vitamins, self medication is never a good idea

You can take too much of a vitamin. Hopefully you are keeping yourself informed of what each vitamin is good for. All of the minerals you are taking, I'm sure, have been well researched and if you google each one individually I'm sure you will find out which ones can be harmful in large quantities. For the most part, most vitamins will simply be expelled when you take more than you need, but a few can be dangerous. Also, be sure to look up vitamins that counteract each other. Some will negate the effects of others. You don't want to be wasting your money by taking vitamins that counteract each other.

There are two types of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble, you can take water soluble vitamins like B and C liberally to an extent, but you need to be careful with fat soluble vitamins like A and D, they can be toxic in excess and cause liver/kidney problems. Fish oil contains fat soluble vitamins, also multivitamins, which also contain minerals that can be toxic in excess. My advice, do not exceed the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of fat soluble vitamins from both supplements and food, and for water soluble vitamins from supplements and never mind the food. If you find that you have been exceeding the RDA of fat soluble vitamins, you need to stop taking supplements for a while, because your body stores the excess, with water soluble vitamins the body excretes the excess.

Not dangerous, actually alot of doctors recommend that women of childbearing age take them. It is probably the change in hormones that makes the hair grow faster when women are pregnant. Prenatal vitamins contain about 150% of your daily iron requirement, so they will predispose you to constipation. One a Day Womens has about the same values as prenatal vitamins but without the extra iron.

if you take too many vitamins which would be like more like 20-30 a day it gets to be unhealthy depending on the cheapness and the actual vitamins in the vitamins
but if you take 12 vitamins a day and not eat anything then its just down right unhealthy

not if your taking alot of different vitamins. if you are taking a lot of the same vitamin your body can't digest it all so it has to work harder to get rid of it. which is why your pee is really neon yellow. its the b vitamins being flushed. your body only digests what it needs so don't be redundant with your vitamin intake. just take the regular amount of each that you need.

If you're taking a multi, there's no need to take more of what's already in it. Too much of anything isn't good; if different levels in your body get out of whack, it can cause heart or other major organ damage since your body is only made to metabolize a certain amount of proteins, elements, supplements, etc.

Yeah, I'd cut back to one multi-vitamin a day. I take one Centrum a day and I feel great. If you want to get more fish oil and all of that, I'd talk to a dietian first. You could do more damage then good.

Some vitamins will just wash out of your body if you get too much (like vitamin C). That is because it is water soluable, so it can move easily through your system. Other vitamins are only soluable in fat. These are much harder to move through your system, and so you can get too much.
Hope that helps.

Most vitamins when taken in overdose will just be part of your urine, but some other vitamins (eg vitamin a) when taken in overdose can actually be damaging your liver and kidneys
