I would've thought that a gentleman from a family as esteemed as yours would understand that my late father spuendered any esteem in which we were held along with my inheritance.

*I presume 'spuendered' to be misspelled words of spendered
or splendored.

The speaker or narrator is explaining that since the person to whom he is speaking is of a high social class, he would understand that the narrator's father "squandered" (wasted) his own rank or social status as well as his inheritence. The father may have done this by being selfish or wasteful, or merely by being against the norm [of the nobility].

squandered= use wastefully or extravagantly

Means the now deceased father spent all the money his child (the speaker) might have inherited and in the process ruined the family name and/or reputation. and that a person from a family with a reputation such as yours should already be aware of that.

Absolutely it should be "squandered", which means to "To spend wastefully or extravagantly; dissipate" (i.e. He squandered every penny he had.) and yes I can understand the meaning. I'll para-phrase it in modern-speak.

Dude, with your family all rich and stuff, I figured you'd get it that my dead dad destroyed our reputation, and spent my trust fund too.

the word is definitely squandered.

but the meaning of the phrase is that the gentleman should understand, because they come from similar wealthy backgrounds that his dead father wasted all of the family's wealth and severely damaged their reputation.

I agree with "squandered"

"Surely a man of your standing/status can see that my dead father ruined the reputation of my family and wasted our money."
