Basically, you can't, not without editing it.

You can download some widescreen wallpapers, but I haven't found a lot of them.

Here are a couple of ways to edit wallpapers for a widescreen computer. If you have a graphics program, open the picture, and if you can crop off sections of the top and bottom without ruining the design, you can do that to get the proper perspective. The other alternative is to put solid colored sides in coordinating colors to extend the sides of the wallpaper. this also gives you a place to put desktop icons without covering up the wallpaper.

In case you're not sure still. I vote for the guy who said use a program to crop it to the correct aspect ratio... say if its a 3:2 aspect ratio, make sure the image has a 3:2 aspect ratio when you crop it.. then apply as desktop and set to stretch and it shouldn't distort too much---depending on the original resolution it was at.

I'd just sell the widescreen, and buy a god monitor. Why would you want widescreen? Even most of the newest games (F.E.A.R., for instance) don't support widescreen. And as you can see, most wallpapers don't either!!

just download the correct size of resolution of the wallpaper that fits the resolution of your screen. example if your screen is 800x600 then you should download a wallpaper with the same size 800x600. Right click on your desktop, properties, background image, ( choose what you download) then choose center, then apply, then thats it.
