Because they are lazy, don't know how to spell, and lack the
imagination to come up with something original to say.

Also they don't mind looking and sounding uneducated or
illiterate. They also lack the critical thinking skills necessary to put together a logical thought process.

I would also like to know why those same people do not take the extra second to use the spell checker?

It is surprising how many people think it is appropriate to use these abbreviations on job applications, in school work, and documentation at work.

Because it is so very annoying to have to write out every single letter, especially when the person's you are communicating with type much faster than you. So the slower typers use short hand to keep up with the fast typers, but then the fast typers start using the short hand and then everyone is using it all the time so it is the only thing we know how to do. unless we really think about what we are typing and take the time to typeevery single word out. Just like I did...haha

Because it's easier and faster than actually taking those extra two seconds to spell the whole word out.

You get what I'm trying to say.

It's the new age. That's how people spell apparently. I worry that my best friend's daughter will never know how to spell correctly.

I think a better question would be, 'why is the word abbreviation so bloody long'?
