The use of glove and gowns when in the medical profession is an OSHA requirement to protect you and others from the spread of potentially harmful infections. The number one way to prevent the spread of infection is to WASH YOUR HANDS in warm water with soap for no less the 15 seconds (or enough time to hum happy birthday).
Gloves are like condoms- not 100% but reduce the risk greatly.
Gowns reduce the risk of you getting the contaminate on your clothing and taking it somewhere else (like home, to you children).
