Tell him that you need some space to think about some things. Slowly put more space between the two of you by not calling back right away, then about a week or two from now tell him that you want to break it off.

If he is 'fat, lazy and rude', then why did you get with him in the first place? There's no nice way to dump someone. Just be honest and try not to be completely horrible about it.

This I could understand from a 17-year-old, but at 27, we should each be ready to strike out as mature individuals. Know who you are and give the individual that you are 100% support. Don't let anything or anyone negate you, especially yourself.

According to my husband, there's no "nice" way to dump a guy- it's best to be honest and direct. Try this: "It's been interesting, but I've realized you're not my type. I don't think we should see each other any more. Good luck with whatever life brings you next."

Be nice about it but FIRM. You don't have to hurt his feelings but just don't let him talk you out of it when he starts playing on your emotions.

Wait! I just re-read your question --you say he's RUDE?!
Well, certainly don't bring yourself down to his level, but maybe focus on the rude and don't mention the fat and lazy. Tell him you just don't feel that your personalities click.

Good luck!

Judging by the wording of your question, breaking up with him nicely may not be within your realm of expertise. You're 27 years old and you can't figure this out for yourself?
