I've had this quarter for 11years and I've just recently become a collector. There are 2 impressions on both sides of the coin. The eagle side has a lump on it, and the wing is distinctively stamped over the lump and coin. On the George Washington side, there is the exact same lump with the words in god we trust distinctively stamped over it.

I've had this quarter for 11years. It has 2 impressions on it, one on each side. They are different in sizes and not directly over each other. On the eagle side, the wing is stamped perfectly over the impression(bubble), and on the heads side, the words IN GOD WE TRUST and George Washingtons throat are directly stamped over that impression(bubble).

Hi. I am a coin dealer in the Midwest. I'm trying to decide what exactly you mean by "lump". Do you mean it appears as if there is a "bubble" inside the coin, with the corresponding lumps on both sides? If that is the case, then your coin unfortunately isn't a mint-produced error; it's a normal quarter that someone has heated up, most likely with a torch...the bubble happens when the heat causes the outer nickel layer of the coin to separate from the inner copper core. Sometimes this can also happen to a coin that's been in a fire. We've seen a number of coins that look that way that folks have brought into our store over the years. The way the coin is struck, it's impossible to have a bubble or lump like that naturally...it has to have been done outside the mint. Translation...it's worth a quarter. Makes a neat conversation piece though.

If you still want to confirm this, take the coin to a local coin dealer and they will examine it for you, but I'm 99% sure that's what you have there.

Hope this helped.

If it is a printing error it should be worth quite a bit. Probably less that $100.00 but maby more than $20.00. Check with a coin dealer.

I collect coins and I'm not sure what the lump is.

Take a picture, put the picture online and drop a link either here or at this link...

It may be worth something. You should take it to someone who knows about these things and find out.
