Last time I was at one of the BIG hardware stores (Lowes or Home Depot) I saw a set of 'pens' for covering scratches. Basically, stain and sealer in felt tip. They came in three shades, from light to dark, and were pretty inexpensive. I haven't tried them myself, but they look like they will do the trick.

Take a wet paper towel and an iron. Put the wet paper towel on top of the scratch and iron. If the scratch isn't too deep, it will raise up to the level of the other wood. Another quick fix (and better for a deep scratch) is elmer's glue. It dries clear, but will not work on a place you use a lot of water. If you go with the glue, use the old english first. Glue doesn't stain, and you will have a lighter spot on your table.

an easy way to disguise a scratch would be to buy a stain in a color slightly darker than the wood. You then take a q-tip and dip in in the stain and put some in the scratch. then you just wipe off the excess. this works good for dark wood. afterwards it is hard to tell that a scratch is even there.

Fill scratches with shoe polish that matches the lightest shade of the finish, or rub with walnut or Brazil nut meat in the direction of the scratch. A felt-tipped marker can also be used for filling the scratch. Then buff thhe area well.

AN INEXPENSIVE THING I HAVE USED TO HIDE A SCRATCH IS A NON-PERMANENT MARKER SIMILAR IN COLOR AND CAREFULLY TRACE OVER THE SCRATCH. THEN RUN A CLOTH OVER IT TO BLEND IT IN. OR TRY LIQUID GOLD.
